Sago Palm Release Meaning

Sago Palm Re-Entry Center is an FDC institution in Pahokee and a component of the Martin Correctional Institution complex. Its mission and name point toward preparation for a return to the community. Legal custody does not end at placement. The person remains a state prisoner until FDC records an actual release or another lawful transition shown in the state databases.

A location change can lead in several directions. FDC may move the person to another prison, a work camp, or a community-release center. Each remains state custody. FDC may instead record an exit from confinement, followed by no state supervision or by parole, conditional release, probation, community control, or another term. The release record answers whether the prison period ended. The supervision record answers what followed.

Lookup Sago Palm Release

Start at the FDC Corrections Offender Network. FDC offers separate searches for current Inmate Population, Inmate Release, Supervised Population, and Absconder or Fugitive records. The separation matters at a re-entry institution. A person can be near the end of a sentence and still appear only in the active population.

Use the DC number when it is known because it links the person's state history more reliably than a common name. If only a name is known, enable aliases and compare the photograph, date of birth, identity descriptors, counties, case numbers, sentence history, and DC number before accepting a match.

1. Search Inmate Population and confirm Sago Palm as the current institution. Read Current Release Date as a changeable field, not a guarantee.
2. If the location changed, identify the new FDC institution. Movement within the state system does not create an actual release.
3. Search Inmate Release with the same DC number. Check whether Release Date is past or future.
4. Pair a past date with the out-of-custody and incarceration history. This is stronger than a future scheduled date.
5. Search Supervised Population for a term that began after the exit and note its type, dates, and supervising office.

Sago Palm Release Dates

FDC labels its live population field Current Release Date. The department warns that the value can change because of gain-time awards, forfeiture, or review. A value of “TO BE SET” means that the date is under review. The full population database is refreshed weekly, while location changes and release dates are updated nightly. This schedule allows a move from Sago Palm to appear before other record corrections.

The Inmate Release database includes people who have been released and people scheduled for release. Its Release Date must therefore be read with the rest of the record. A future date is a plan. A past date together with the end of the relevant incarceration period supports an actual exit. Detainers can also affect where the person went next. Do not assume that the planned residence or location field proves arrival at that place.

Sago Palm Complex Transfers

The 2024 Martin Correctional Institution PREA audit identifies Sago Palm as one part of a wider Martin complex. It also documents Loxahatchee Road Prison, West Palm Beach Community Release Center, and Atlantic Community Release Center as components. The shared complex link explains why a person can change placement without leaving FDC control.

For example, a person may move from Sago Palm to a community-release center for structured outside activity. The word “community” does not convert that move into discharge. A person may also go to another prison or work-camp component. In each case, the current facility field should change, while the state incarceration period continues. Only the Inmate Release history confirms the end of the relevant custody period.

PBSO has no authoritative discharge record for these state moves. Its Booking Blotter may show an earlier Palm Beach County arrest and transfer into FDC, but the local booking record stops at the county custody event. Likewise, a Palm Beach court file can show the sentence and commitment without reflecting the latest state gain-time action. A clean record chain uses the court judgment for the sentence and FDC for placement, calculations, and exit.

Note: Use the same DC number across Martin-complex location changes to avoid treating one person as several records.

Sago Palm Supervision After Release

A state-prison exit may be followed by supervision. FDC's Supervised Population search can show probation, parole, conditional release, community control, or another state term. These labels are not interchangeable. Probation is a court-ordered supervision term. Parole is a conditional release process for limited eligible cases under the Florida Commission on Offender Review. Conditional release has a separate legal basis.

Match the supervision entry to the same DC number and check the supervision type, start date, scheduled termination information, and listed office. The person is out of the prison building at that stage, but remains bound by the displayed state term. A supervision end date is not the same as the earlier prison Release Date.

If a person appears in the release database but not in supervision, do not infer that all possible court conditions ended. FDC's searches have stated scope limits. County probation and some local matters are not covered. The Palm Beach court case can supply the order, while FDC answers state correctional supervision. If the public records conflict, use the Bureau of Admission and Release or Central Records contact with the exact DC number and date in question.
